Pilgrimage to Ireland - Aran Islands

The Aran Islands are located just off Galway and Doolin. The locals speak Irish. Inis Mór has 27 nationally protected monuments - more than anywhere else its size in Ireland or even in Europe . Most of these monuments are spiritual sites, dating back to the early Celtic monastic period or even further back to the pre-Christian and even pre-Celtic times.

We meet a Druid priest and he explains things to us.

We're staying at an eighteenth century stone built house situated on the beautiful and historic Aran Island of Inís Mór. Kilmurvey House, situated halfway along the island of Inís Mór between Kilronan and the western village of Bun Gowla. This is the view from my window.

There are stone walls everywhere, lots and lots of them.

In the evening, at 11pm, we can still walk outside in the dusk. And I hear a cuckoo.
