OUR CARE SUPPORT GROUP

“This support space is under construction.  My wish is to create a space on line where parents and caregivers can come together at an agreed upon time and date and share our learnings, our joys as well as our sorrows, and our accomplishments as we go about our lives as parents and caregivers of chronically-ill and special needs children or adult children.”

“As a facilitator of such a group in early 2000 in
Massachusetts,  our group, known as “OurCare,” thrived on monthly meetings where we gathered in a circle in the lobby of a local pediatrician’s office.   We explored topics such as special education issues, chronic sorrow, childrens’ sleep problems, dealing with another hospitalization, finding time for our own issues, dealing with anger and resentment and striving to live in the present.  The topics are unending.   Personal empowerment, whether you’re a mom or a dad or a grandparent, is a struggle when dealing with a chronically-ill or special needs child.”
